As John Cena prepares to win his record-tying 16th WWE World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, let’s rewind to almost a decade ago when Cena was once again the challenger heading into SummerSlam.
His rivalry with Edge elevated both WWE Superstars to legendary status, and their 2006 main event delivered big-time. Despite defending the title against Cena who had the hometown advantage of Boston, the Rated-R Superstar managed to walk out with the gold thanks to the power of the punch (Brass knux.)
While the match was good, the buildup was more memorable as Edge and Lita invaded the home of John Cena, Sr.
