We’re still mourning the death of “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, the ultimate wrasslin’ villain of WWE.
A verbal assassin, Piper gained his heat by snapping insults at the fans and their favorites on a weekly basis on Piper’s Pit, the premiere talk-show that paved the way for the Highlight Reel, Body Shop, Funeral Parlor, and countless others. Often imitated, but never duplicated, Piper’s Pit launched top storylines and rivalries for years, some of which not even involving HotRod; his presence alone gave them importance.
In honor of Piper’s passing, today we’re rewinding to the most famous Piper’s Pit ever. You’ve probably seen the clip ad nauseum, but it only gets better with age. And if you haven’t seen it, you’re in for a treat.
RIP, Piper.
