This intriguing pay-per-view will not get as much attention as normal thanks to the presidential debate. Hopefully Vince McMahon doesn’t freak out and force John Cena to win every match for the rest of his life.
You know the drill: I am betting imaginary jellybeans for each match (based on 5Dimes’ odds) and keeping track of my “winnings.” I’m dividing my picks into three categories: 🔒Locks™, Solid Picks and Stay Aways. I will bet 10 jellybeans on the 🔒Locks™, five on the Solid Picks, and none on the Stay Aways.
Here are my WWE No Mercy picks. Remember that I’m not necessarily picking the winner, but the one that I feel is the best bet.
🔒Locks™
None.
Solid Picks
Singles match
Nikki Bella: 10/23 (-230)
Carmella: 17/10 (+170)
Pick: Carmella
Carmella has been attacking Bella at every turn, which led to some rumors about this being a no disqualification match. As of now, that is not the case, but this should be one of the most physical women’s matches we’ve seen in a while. The Princess of Staten Island should get the win here to solidify herself on the main roster.
Tag-team match for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship
The Usos: 5/9 (-180)
Heath Slater & Rhyno (c): 7/5 (+140)
Pick: The Usos
As much as I’d like to see Slater and Rhyno get an extended run with the belts, Rhyno has to go run for office and Slater runs the risk of losing his charm if he holds onto the belt for too long. The Usos have reinvented themselves with this new heel gimmick, and it makes sense for them to get the win.
Stay Aways
Singles match
Baron Corbin: 1/9 (+900)
Jack Swagger: 5/1 (+500)
Pick: Baron Corbin
The only possible interesting finish that could come from this matchup already happened on SmackDown. There’s no way Corbin loses this.
Singles match
Randy Orton: 5/6 (-120)
Bray Wyatt: 5/6 (-120)
Pick: Bray Wyatt
Orton can take a loss. Wyatt can’t. Plus, even though Erick Rowan is missing time due to injury, Luke Harper just returned to live events and could very easily make an appearance.
Singles match for the SmackDown Women’s Championship
Becky Lynch (c): 5/79 (-1580)
Alexa Bliss: 15/2 (+750)
Pick: Becky Lynch
If this match ends up happening, Lynch will retain. She’s doing a great job of being the face of the women’s division on SmackDown, and as good as Bliss is, it’s not the time to end the Lass Kicker’s reign.
Title vs. Career match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship
The Miz (c): 5/6 (-120)
Dolph Ziggler: 5/6 (-120)
Pick: Dolph Ziggler
I discussed this on our No Mercy roundtable, but this match could go either way. Ultimately, though, I think this is a way to get us back into Dolph Ziggler without turning him heel.
Triple threat match for the WWE World Championship
AJ Styles (c): 1/12 (-1200)
Field (John Cena or Dean Ambrose): 11/2 (+550)
Pick: AJ Styles
Styles needs a more extended run with the belt than just a month-long reign. Ambrose, as John Corrigan said, is better served chasing the title, and Cena will win his 16th (and 17th) world title in a singles match to eliminate any idea of a dirty finish.
Overall record to date: 100-63-10
Jellybeans won to date: 49.75 on a 44-38-9 record
