Mahalis: WWE Superstars Trading Places

Last week on Raw, the genetic jackhammer himself, Vince McMahon, told us that there will be a superstar shakeup. I understand why this is being done – it’s nice to change things up once in a while. We could all use some new feuds. However, this does make me nervous.

I am concerned Smackdown is going to get the short end of the stick. The blue brand still seems to be treated as if it is the B show, even though many would argue that it has been better than Raw for months. After all, Raw got the Hardys and Kurt Angle. I will give WWE credit for sending Shinsuke Nakamura to Smackdown, as it would have been egregious for him to go to Raw as well.

I just don’t want to see Smackdown get gypped here. I have a fear that Raw is going to get AJ Styles and Smackdown isn’t going to get a proportional talent in return. If AJ were to go to Raw, I think there are only three superstars on Raw that would make the trade fair: Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins or Finn Balor. Since I don’t anticipate any of that happening, AJ should stay on Smackdown, it is the house that he built after all.

I am going to give you a few superstars from each show that I think could use a change of scenery.

Here’s who I think should make the switch to Monday Nights:

John Cena – Cena is for all intents and purposes a part timer now whether he admits it or not. He’s a huge name who could have better angles on Raw. You could always have him feud with Owens or Samoa Joe. I wouldn’t mind seeing him in a feud with Strowman either. That would be a good way to keep Strowman from making other superstars boring for a couple of months.

Dean Ambrose – He needs to drop the title to Corbin before this happens, but I don’t see any need for Dean on Smackdown anymore. Ambrose has done essentially all he can do there. He has feuded with Styles, Miz, Corbin, and Ziggler. He had a small run in with Bray Wyatt. What is left for the Lunatic Fringe? I don’t see him going back into the Smackdown World Title picture, so it is time to move on.

Natalya and Mickie James – This would give Raw some much needed depth in the women’s division. Also, it would give Raw two more people that Nia Jax can squash without being in the title picture. That is really all this is. I would have shipped Naomi over but since she just won the title, I don’t see that being the case.

Here would be my additions for the Blue Brand:

Roman Reigns – I would love to see Roman get a fresh start on Smackdown. There are plenty of things that he could do there. You could have him toe the heel/face line in feuds with AJ or Shinsuke. I actually think that he would have a good chemistry with Miz as well. This is probably wishful thinking though.

Sami Zayn – There is no one in the WWE who needs this change more than Sami Zayn. He is lost in the shuffle on Raw, and he is too talented to keep getting jerked around. Please bring him to Smackdown and have him feud for the Intercontinental Championship. The man deserves a title run.

Enzo and Cass – I thought they were coming out of WrestleMania with the Tag Titles, but the Hardys had other plans. Since it looks like they won’t be wrestling for the titles right now, let them bring some entertainment to the Smackdown tag team division.

Sasha Banks – I can all but assure you this will not happen, but a guy can dream. Much like Sami Zayn, I believe that Banks is being wasted. Sasha needs a prolonged run as Women’s Champion and Smackdown is the place where that can happen. She deserves much more than two and three week runs with the title. I say this won’t happen because I believe she will be feuding with Bayley very shortly.

Prediction time!

AJ Styles, Alexa Bliss and Luke Harper go to Raw and Charlotte, The New Day and Sami Zayn go to Smackdown.

First, if we are going to get the Sasha vs Bayley feud, then Charlotte coming to Smackdown makes perfect sense. She would be wasted in a feud with Nia Jax. She would quickly enter the title picture on Smackdown. I would prefer that Bliss stays on Smackdown because I think Raw will use her poorly. I am big fan of Bliss and I don’t want her to get the Sasha treatment. The New Day and Zayn would be welcome additions to Smackdown.

I just have a terrible feeling that Styles goes to Raw and Smackdown doesn’t get a main eventer in return. Don’t do this to us, Vince!
