Every night while writing roundups of Southeastern Pennsylvania and South Jersey high school sports for The Philadelphia Inquirer, I always ponder whether or not I can write that a goalkeeper, “laid the SmackDown” during a game.

In the near future, I might get to write that about ex-German keeper Tim Wiese.

German tabloid Bild reports that Wiese will make an appearance at a WWE live event on Saturday in Frankfurt, German.

Wiese is expected to join NXT at some point, and though he reportedly won’t compete this weekend, his appearance will likely indicate that his stint with NXT is on the horizon.

The 32-year-old looks a lot different from the time he won six caps for Germany between 2008 and 2012. A photo of Wiese went viral on Twitter in September, showing his very different physique:

Wiese has played for Kaiserslautern, Werder Bremen and Hoffenhiem.
