Last week the wrestling world snickered over a piss-poor rendition of Frank Underwood tossing Zoey Barnes into an oncoming train. In Impact Wrestling’s version, James Storm portrayed Underwood, and Zoey was played by this week’s #WomenCrushWednesday: Mickie James.

Sure, it was a silly angle, and hey, at least it gained TNA some attention when Ring of Honor was all the rage, but it’s completely unbelievable that any one, especially a cowboy like Storm, would try to murder her. C’mon, Mickie is a sweetheart!

I had the privilege of interviewing her a couple years ago to promote her country music album and she was just as lovely and chill as you’d hope. An excellent wrestler, an even better entertainer, James has remained a strong nod to the golden age of women’s wrestling in the early 2000s. Although she developed a fan following while competing on the indys, her popularity skyrocketed when she burst on the WWE scene as the obsessed stalker of Trish Stratus. Their matches and promos often stole the show, and James will forever be adored for the greatest WrestleMania moment of all time. (Relive below.)

Jumping from WWE to TNA, and pro wrestling to country music, James continues to evolve her skillset in and out of the ring. We here at Wrestledelphia hope she emerges unscathed from the train debacle and returns with a heavenly vengeance.
